About Me

I’m Ivas Stonys, a sculptor who thrives on the nuances of metalworking. My creative journey is deeply rooted in the industrial minimalistic style, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and upcycling. I take immense satisfaction in transforming leftover materials from various industries into dynamic pieces of art that balance raw, industrial elements.

I find inspiration in the often overlooked aspects of our world, repurposing materials that might otherwise be discarded. My work challenges conventional notions of waste and beauty, showcasing the potential of upcycled art to convey powerful messages.

For me, art is more than just a visual experience; it’s about crafting moments of connection and interaction that captivate and inspire. My journey as an artist is driven by a commitment to sustainability and a belief in the transformative power of art to bridge the gap between industrial processes and creative expression.

Education

2011-2019

High School Diploma

A Catholic school known for its emphasis on humanistic and democratic values. The diverse environment and rich cultural teachings of this institution significantly influenced my early interests and creative thinking, providing a solid academic foundation and moral compass.

2019-2023

Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture

Funny enough, art wasn't my first love. It was more of a direction nudged by my parents. But, I found myself at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, diving into a rigorous curriculum that honed my skills in various mediums, especially metal sculpture. Most of my works during my studies were mainly from steel. I even tried my hand at traditional stone carving—because let's face it, a sculptor wouldn't be a sculptor without it, right? Stone wasn’t my top priority, but I did pick up a basic understanding that added to my skill set.

2024

Certificate IV in Project Management

My bachelor's thesis, a full-blown sculpture project, sparked a deep interest in project management. This led me to broaden my horizons and explore Australia. The goal was to mix my artistic practice with some solid project management skills. This experience was key in preparing me for a dynamic career in the arts, where I could bring my projects to life with both creativity and structured execution.
